can't even re-boot or turn off, I have to disconnect power then wait 20 min or so to get pc to turn on.

Could it be the PC gets to hot...it does get a little warm in the upstair rooms where the heat rises.

Any help would be appreciated

Have you tried alt-ctrl-delete just to see if there are any strange (new) programs that turned on by a virus or whatever?

I don't know.

Have you scanned for viruses?

Have you gotten any BSOD's (blue screen of death) & if so what were the error messages?

It could be a # of problems so if you could share some error messages if any, then I could try & help you out.

Check to see if the memory is in place as that could lead to some of the problems you describe.

It could also be a power supply issue? How many devices do you have hooked up to the PSU? How many watts is it & what is the brand name?

This was happening to me. The wire to my mouse was bad, so I replaced the mouse.

What kind of PC, OS (operating system) ?

Sounds like your PC is definatly over heating, let me guess? it's an E-machine? I would look into getting a new fan, they are very easy to replace.. You can also buy a case with fans built in that covers your whole tower and also filters out dust and crap.

If you have no Antivirus/Firewall you may very well have some nasty viruses/trojanns/spyware.

Do you have Spybot(Spyware remover)? www.kolla.de

I would d/l it and also goto trendmicro and do their free scan, you could have many different thing's (trojans etc) bogging you down to the point of crashing every time.

I also highly recomend Pandasoft's antivirus software or Norton, Macafee BLOWS!

Good luck Maximum

I think your right #1 cheater

I tried trendmicros free scan and every time it gets to "my documents" files it freezes up.

I think this goes back to all the music I d/l from kazzaa.

My co-worker said he will get me a copy of AVG antivirus.....hope that helps.

thanks again

Maximum, Kazza comes loaded with spyware, you should d/l Spybot(spyware killer) download it from here C/NET Download spybot The main source of your problems is probably a virus(many) from downloading from Kazza without scanning the files..

Good luck.

This is driving me nuts!!!

Run spybot "search and distroy" gets near end of scan the PC Freezes up.

Run Pandasoft virus scan, gets near end of scan the PC Freezes up.

Run Trendmicro virus scan, gets near end of scan the PC Freezes up.

Also installed Zone alarm.

Weird thing is I have yet to have PC freeze up during normal use only happens now when trying to use above software...???

Anymore suggestions would be appreciated

Awesome news MV!

I almost thought you were headed for a format..

Make sure your very careful when d/l crap from Kaza, there are lots of creepy fawks spreading viruses on there. My best advice would be to discontinue and try another source where you can d/l to a disk and scan before you put it on your hard drive. I would also get a firewall (Zonealarm) is one of the best that I've tested. Get rid of Kaza and get Kaza light, I hear it's free of spyware? I can get you a full ver of Zonealarm if you want it.

Take care!
